My Tankaria History
Mr. Ahmed Munshi, the oldest living
citizen of Tankaria, now 87, lives in Chicago
(USA).  His talent was recognized by Ibrahim
Dadabhai "Bekaar" (see the document
written by him in 1955).  After college, Mr.
Ahmed Mushi started his career as a teacher
in 1940 at Rander (Surat).  He started with a
monthly salary of Rs. 15, but amazingly, he
managed to save Rs.10.  Mr. Bekaar was his
principal at M.M.P.  (Madrasiya Muhammadiya Piperdiwala) School at the time.

On June 14, 1941, he was transferred to the village of Ikher to work.  He relocated to
Ikher in 1948 because of his work.  Later on, in 1955, he was once again transferred to
Tankaria High School.  His wife, Mrs. Amina Munshi was also a teacher.  She retired in
1978 and moved to USA with her husband.

In 1980, Mr. Ahmed Munshi was selected as tribal subclass officer.  He was also the
President of Tankaria Retired Members Committee until 1985 and worked together with
district Panchayat to solve the pension problems of retirees.  In December 1985, he
moved to Chicago with his son, Mr. Hanif Munshi. He's still an active member of Gujarat
State Pension Committee, Baroda.

Now, read the history in the words of a person who has seen Tankaria more closely
than anyone else.
